Το Εργαστήριο Σκηνογραφίας LSA ιδρύθηκε το 2000 στην Αθήνα από την ΜΑ Σκηνογράφο και Εικαστικό Μαρία Χανιωτάκη. Συνεργάτες από το χώρο του θεάτρου, του χορού, της τέχνης και του κινηματογράφου έχουν επισκεφτεί ως εισηγητές διάφορους κύκλους διαλέξεων, εργαστηρίων/workshops και μαθημάτων.
Πολλές καλλιτεχνικές δραστηριότητες ξεκίνησαν, έχοντας ως πυρήνα το δημιουργικό και ερευνητικό στόχο του Εργαστηρίου Σκηνογραφίας LSA και συνεχίστηκαν με επιτυχία· όπως η παράσταση «Ανάποδη κλωστή» (BIOS, 2008 ) και «Ανάποδη κλωστή - το παραμύθι» (Θέατρο Άσκηση, 2009).
Οι εκθέσεις των αποφοίτων του Εργαστηρίου Σκηνογραφίας LSA και οι ατομικές εκθέσεις των σπουδαστών του Εργαστηρίου για την Τέχνη έχουν φιλοξενηθεί, μεταξύ άλλων, στην Αίθουσα Τέχνης Μονόχωρο, στα Φουαγιέ των Θεάτρου του Νέου Κόσμου και Θεάτρου Τέχνης Κάρολος Κουν (Φρυνίχου) και συνεχίστηκαν, λόγω του covid – 19, online με επιτυχία
Το 2015 το Εργαστήριο Σκηνογραφίας LSA συμμετείχε, με την ελληνική αποστολή του Ελληνικού Κέντρου του Διεθνούς Ινστιτούτου Θεάτρου (ΕΚΔΙΘ) - student section, στην Παγκόσμια Έκθεση Θεάτρου και Σκηνογραφίας στην Πράγα, Prague Quadrennial PQ 2015, με τους «Όρνιθες» του Αριστοφάνη και με τις ατομικές εργασίες των σπουδαστών του Εργαστηρίου για την Τέχνη.
Το 2016 το Εργαστήριο Σκηνογραφίας LSA, στη συνέχεια της Έκθεσης PQ2015 στην Πράγα, συμμετείχε στην Έκθεση [OUT]TOP/AS στο Μουσείο Μπενάκη - Πειραιώς.
Οι πάνω από 500 απόφοιτοι του Εργαστηρίου Σκηνογραφίας LSA, η εξαιρετικά επιτυχημένη πορεία πολλών εξ αυτών στον θεατρικό και καλλιτεχνικό χώρο, καθώς και η συνέχεια των σπουδών τους σε μεταπτυχιακά προγράμματα στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό, ενθαρρύνουν, με υπευθυνότητα, την εκπαιδευτική και δημιουργική πορεία του Εργαστηρίου Σκηνογραφίας LSA· έχοντας στραμμένο το βλέμμα στις νέες διεθνείς κατευθύνσεις της τέχνης, του θεάτρου, της σκηνογραφίας και της ενδυματολογίας.

LSA was founded in 2000 in Athens by Maria Chaniotaki.
Distinguished practitioners from theater, dance, art and film have visited LSA, as Lectures for workshops and courses since 2000.
Many projects were based on the artistic and creative aim of LSA's Programs such as," Inverted thread " Perfromance Installation at BIOS Theatre (2008) and " Inverted Thread - the fairy tale" at Askisis Theatre (2009). Both Performances were based more on the impact of the narrative image, space, sight, sound smell experience and time and less in speech and dialogues.
LSA Graduate Exhibitions and individual student Exhibitions of LSA's Visual Art and Performance design Course took place at Monohoro Art Gallery, Giagianos Gallery, Embros Theatre, Art Theatre Karolos Koun - Frynichou, Theatre of Neos Kosmos etc.
LSA participated with the Greek nation - student section of the Hellenic Centre ITT at International Exhibition "Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space" PQ2015 with " Birds" by Aristophanes and with the individual art projects from LSA's students of Visual Art and Performance Design Course. LSA also participated with the same project at [OUT]TOP/AS Exhibition at the Benaki Museum – Peiraios str in Athens (2016).
More than 500 graduates LSA students and the successful perspective the most of them as visual artists and designers and also the acceptance the most of them in Postgraduate Programs in Scenography in Universities of abroad, encourages us to continue, with responsibility, the educational and creative directions, always added the new perspectives, internationally, in Art and Scenography.

Η Μαρία Χανιωτάκη γεννήθηκε στο Ηράκλειο Κρήτης. Ζει και εργάζεται στην Αθήνα. Σπούδασε Τ. Πολ. Μηχανικός(ΒΑ), Μουσική Πιάνο και Σκηνογραφία στο Wimbledon College of Art - UAL, London, UK, όπου πήρε Master of Arts (ΜΑ) Theatre Design/ Scenography. Εργάζεται ως σκηνογράφος και ενδυματολόγος στο Θέατρο από το 1996 και έχει εκθέσει έργα της ως εικαστικός καλλιτέχνης σε ατομικές και ομαδικές εκθέσεις. Το 2000 ίδρυσε το “Εργαστήριο Σκηνογραφίας LSA – Laboratory of Scenography, Athens (LSA)” το οποίο συνεχίζει έως σήμερα. Έχει σκηνοθετήσει την Performance - Installation «η Ανάποδη κλωστή» και «η Ανάποδη κλωστή – το παραμύθι». Έχει δημοσιεύσει τρία βιβλία. To νέο της βιβλίο «η Ποιητική Τέχνη της Σκηνογραφίας» πρόκειται να εκδοθεί σύντομα στην ελληνική και αγγλική γλώσσα. Ήταν επιμελήτρια με την ελληνική συμμετοχή - student section, στην Διεθνή Έκθεση Prague Quadrennial PQ2015 του Εργαστηρίου Σκηνογραφίας LSA και στην Έκθεση [OUT]TOP/AS, Μουσείο Μπενάκη – Πειραιώς το 2016 . Είχε επίσης την Επιμέλεια για το Εργαστήριο Σκηνογραφίας LSA με την ελληνική συμμετοχή, student exhibition στην PQ 2023.
Συμμετείχε ακόμη ως Σκηνογράφος με το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο “ Staging Places” με την SBTD στην PQ 2019 https://stagingplaces.co.uk/designers?pg=3 και στο Victoria & Albert Museum, London – UK και ως Σκηνογράφος με την Ελλάδα¨Greece/ A Rare Gathering” στην PQ 2023 https://pq.cz/pq-2023-info/projects-2023/exhibition-of-countries-and-regions/greece-a-rare-gathering/.
Είχε την καλλιτεχνική/σκηνογραφική επιμέλεια στην Έκθεση, αφιέρωμα του Μουσείου Καζαντζάκη, στον σκηνογράφο Γιώργο Ανεμογιάννη, που έγινε στην Βασιλική του Αγίου Μάρκου στο Ηράκλειο Κρήτης το 2016.
Μέλος: Ένωσης Βρετανών Σκηνογράφων (SBTD), Ελληνικού Κέντρου του Διεθνούς Ινστιτούτου Θεάτρου (ΕΚΔΙΘ), Επιμελητηρίου Εικαστικών Τεχνών Ελλάδος (ΕΕΤΕ) και Ένωσης Σκηνογράφων Ελλάδος, μέλος της ελεγκτικής επιτροπής.
Maria Chaniotaki was born in Heraclion Crete. She studied T. Civil Engineering (BA), Music Piano and Theatre Design/Scenography, Master of Arts (MA) at Wimbledon College of Arts -UAL. London, UK. She is working as theatre and costume designer since 1996 and she has exhibited her work as visual artist in various exhibitions. She is the founder and head of the “Laboratory of Scenography, Athens (LSA)” since 2000. Her first attempt in directing was performance installation “Thread” and “Thread – the fairy tale”. She has published three books. Her new book “The Poetic Art of Scenography” will be published in Greek and English soon. She was the Curator and Course Leader of LSA in PQ 2015, with the Greek participation - student section and in PQ2023 as well at [OUT]TOP/AS Exhibition at the Benaki Museum – Peiraios (2016).
As Scenographer she was participated at PQ2019 with United Kingdom“ Staging Places” (SBTD) and with Greece ¨Greece/ A Rare Gathering” at PQ2023. She was the curator/artistic director of Scenographer’s George Anemogiannis Exhibition in Crete, organized by the Kazantzakis Museum.
Member of the: Society of British Theatre Designers (SBTD), International Institute of Theatre (ITT), Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece (EETE) and Greek Theatre Designers Association.
